Move Your Mood:

We will start each group rating our moods. We will go for a regularly paced walk around campus on a pre-planned route for 30 minutes. We will return to the room to rate our mood, post-intervention, and process our thoughts and feelings about moving our body. We will discuss different topics having to do with depression and anxiety and how movement helps lessen the symptoms.

Potential benefits of participating in this group include:

- improve mood and reduce anxiety through body movement

- improve ability to effectively monitor and track your mood

- gain insight into way in which anxiety or depression works in your life

- learn additional ways to manage mood-related symptoms

This group is co-facilitated by Dr. Kate Russo, Ph.D. and counselor Lisa Kilmartin.  The group is scheduled to start on January 30, 2012 and requires a brief screening appointment prior to the start date. 

Please note:

This group is NOT designed for individuals who are not healthy enough to walk at a good pace for 30 minutes at a time, individuals who are seeking a weight-loss program, or those who currently struggle with disordered eating.
