Dear FGCU Students:
The earthquake devastation in Haiti may have directly or indirectly impacted your life. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) would like FGCU students to know that our office is available for support. We are open Monday through Thursday 8 to 6 and Friday 8 to 5 to provide counseling services to students who are experiencing loss, anxiety, or other difficulties related to this tragic event.
We realize that we are all interconnected and that the Haiti earthquake may have a significantly adverse effect on some of our students. CAPS staff members are ready to assist FGCU students with services that are confidential and free (paid for by your student fees).
Students in need may simply walk into our office and request to speak with a counselor. CAPS is located on the second floor of Howard Hall, Suite 239. Our phone number is (239) 590-7950.
You can visit the following page, Managing your distress about the earthquake from afar, (http://www.apa.org/helpcenter/distress-earthquake.aspx) which may offer some assistance to students who are distressed.
I hope this information is helpful to you.
Sincerely,
Jon Brunner, PhD
Director, Counseling and Health Services
