June 30, 2011:

There was a tragic loss to the FGCU community this past week with the drowning of student Joel Johnson. Due to inquiries regarding funeral services, we have provided some information below:

Funeral: Grace Funeral Chapels at 5980 West Oakland Park Blvd, Lauderhill, FL 33313

Visitation and Service: New Fellowship Center at 3280 N. State Road 7, Lauderdale Lakes, FL 33319

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens at 3201 N.W. 19th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311

Visitation is Saturday, July 9 at 10:00 AM, service will be held 11:00 AM, and burial is at 1:00 PM.

Please remember that as an FGCU student, there are support services available to you during this difficult time. Don’t hesitate to contact or refer a friend to the Counseling and Psychological Services Center at 590-7950 or any member of the Division of Student Affairs.
