Welcome Message and Mission Statement

Director's Welcome

Hello and welcome to the Office of Housing & Residence Life Web site. I am pleased about your interest in our University and especially that you have an interest in the benefits of living on campus here at North Lake Village. We feel that campus living combines the essential elements for a successful college experience. Even if your family lives nearby, it's well worth spending your college years living on campus.

Living where you learn offers many opportunities for you to connect to the University. You will meet students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. You will learn a great deal about yourself and others, forming life-long friendships and memories. But most important, you will connect more efficiently with campus resources and experience a higher level of satisfaction with the University.

We remain focused on our mission, as it guides our long and short term planning. Our evaluation of services, through the Quality of Residential Life Survey, provides valuable student feedback required to make improvements to our programs and facilities. We currently employ approximately 50 full-time and student staff who live and work in our communities in order to promote a student's success and respond to the needs of our residents.

We believe living on campus means more than just having a place to sleep and eat. Studies have demonstrated that students who live on campus are more likely to earn higher grades, become more involved in campus activities, and are more likely to graduate than those who live off-campus. A key to their success and satisfaction is involvement. We urge students to become active members of their community. This is accomplished by getting to know their neighbors, attending programs and social events, interacting with others at meals, getting to know the staff in the building, and serving on one of the many committees, councils and associations that exist at FGCU's North Lake Village.

Take a moment to browse the remainder of our Web site and please contact our office with any questions or special requests you may have.

Sincerely,

Pamela Schreiber,
Director
