2010 Career Leadership Institute
Do you know what characteristics describe your leadership style? How will your leadership be applied to the real world? Will your leadership skills and experiences be applied to your specific career pursuits? Three questions that focus around the concepts of this program. By way of your personal leadership style, and your collegiate leadership experiences and involvements, this program is geared toward preparing you for the next endeavor in your life. Whether you're planning on entering the workforce of pursuing graduate school, theses sessions are structured to guide you both personally and professionally through the continual development of your own leadership abilities.
CLI is centered around providing hands on applicable examples and tools. The sessions are interactive in nature and include: group activities, panels, guest speakers,. The tools and techniques shared in these sessions are pertinent techniques and advice from other professional leaders.
Attendance at the CLI is strictly limited to 15 people. If you're interested in attending, please fill out this brief application and return the application to the Office for Student Involvement. Applications available soon!
A selection committee will review and select students to attend. Those students who are chosen will receive a program schedule and instructions to prepare for the program.
Mission
The Career Leadership Institute provides students with the educational opportunity to apply their collegiate experience to their future endeavors. Utilizing their involvement, leadership, and learned life skills, students will discover the resources for pursing graduate school, job searching techniques, and local networking opportunities.
Upon completion of the program, students will:
· Understand leadership as a process and reflect on how values and experiences affect how they choose to serve and lead.
· Integrate their leadership competencies with practical experiences.
· Evaluate their learned skills and apply it to their future endeavors.
· Identify with their social responsibility and civic duty through demonstrated knowledge of theory and practice.
· Develop their knowledge and skill set to include job searching strategies and apply them to their future career pursuits.
· Cultivate and build relationships and networking skills with local professionals.
