CLAST
College-Level Academic
Skills Test (CLAST)
****SEE YOUR ACADEMIC
ADVISOR****
CHANGE TO CLAST
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY MET
THE CLAST PLEASE DISREGARD THIS MESSAGE
A recently passed Florida law eliminates the
College-Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) four-part subtests
effective July 1, 2009. Therefore, CLAST subtests will not be offered after
June 30, 2009.
The
elimination of CLAST subtests does not eliminate the requirement
that students demonstrate college-level proficiency in English language,
reading, essay and computation skills.
After July 1, 2009, students who are seeking a baccalaureate degree
or an associate in arts degree and who have not satisfied the CLAST
requirement through testing or exemption will be required to achieve
requisite scores on either the ACT or SAT exam or achieve a 2.5 GPA in 6
credits of specific courses previously required for CLAST exemption.
NOTE TO THOSE ALREADY
HOLDING BACHELOR’S DEGREES: If you already hold a regionally accredited bachelor's
degree and are entering the University to seek a second undergraduate
degree, CLAST will NOT be required for you.
NOTE TO THOSE SEEKING
TEACHER CERTIFICATION:
State certification requirements changed effective July 1, 2002. CLAST
scores are no longer accepted if earned/passed after June 30, 2002. The
General Knowledge Test is required. It is best if you seek advising from
your local school board office. You
may visit the following website to find more information about Teacher
Certification and registration for the required tests: www.fl.nesinc.com
