Academic Integrity Committee
The Academic Integrity Committee is coordinated by the Dean of Students’ Office to resolve cases of alleged academic dishonesty referred by the faculty. It is comprised of faculty and students in the following structure:
A. The Office of the Dean of Students serves as advisor to the Academic Integrity Committee to coordinate the hearing process and to assist the committee in providing fair and impartial hearings for students accused of academic dishonesty.
B. Five faculty members are recommended to serve by the Dean of each College for a one year appointment that can be renewed.
C. Two students from each college are selected in consultation with Student Government through an interview process established by the Dean of Students’ Office. They serve one year appointments.
D. When a student is referred for a hearing, the Dean of Students’ Office convenes a committee from the pool of appointees to serve as the Hearing Body for the case using the following guidelines:
a. Three faculty members from the college making the referral, b. Two faculty members from different colleges, and c. Two students from a different college than the college making the referral.
E. The Chair of each hearing will be selected by the committee members comprising the Hearing Body.
F. Student’s have the right to appeal to the Vice President for Student Affairs, a decision of the Academic Integrity Committee using the same process as the Student Conduct Committee.
G. Any further action regarding student’s grades will follow the Grade Appeals process outlined by the Division of Academic Affairs.
