Writing the Thesis
CLAST grading guidelines favor clearly stated
thesis ideas. It is highly recommended that you articulate your thesis in one
sentence and present it early in the essay. This is not a rule specific to all
writing, but is recommended for the CLAST. You should also reference key words
from the prompt in the thesis, e.g. "the computer is a modern invention
that can be considered a wonder of the world," and "of all my
possessions, the one that is most important to me is my pocket watch."You
should also avoid questions in your thesis and announcements, e.g. "In
this essay, I will discuss why my pocket watch is my most important
possessions."
