Wing Mentoring
What Mentors provide the
first year students:
- Utilize their experience
and strengths in developing meaningful relationships
- Set up a regular "get together"
time
- Provide an environment
which is "safe" for open and honest dialogue
- "Lifts up" the individual
student by showing empathy, understanding and respect
- Are available whenever
and wherever the mentee needs them
- Provides accurate information
about the university programs and social life
- Provides regular feedback
to the student on all aspects of the mentorship
- Provides positive role
modeling by sharing appropriate professional and personal information
- Shares knowledge and insight
about university life
- Helps the student explore
career options
- Assist the student to utilize
all information sources
- Respects all confidential
information
- Communicates regularly
with the director of the CAA Mentoring Program
- Assist with decision making,
but does not make the decision for the student
- Is an advocate for the
student!
