Thirty CROP and Scholars middle school students participated in the Summer Institute Program held on the FGCU campus June 21-25, 2011. The students experienced different careers each day, with the week ending with a tour of the University of South Florida and the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa.

Classroom sessions focused on careers in Criminal Justice, Political Science, and Environmental Studies. During the Criminal Justice lesson, taught by Dr. Dave Thomas, the students were able to get hands-on experience solving crimes.  Thanks to Ms. Brenda Brooks, the students were able to tour CREW Land and Water Trust and spend a day in the outdoor environment.  Finally, the students created speeches, campaigned, had a lively debate, and voted during Political Science Day.
